Oh y'all.....creating this whimsical DIY fairy house was such a fun project!!
I've dreamed about making a fairy home for probably 15 years and have just never committed to it.
That is why I love our Posh & Fancy group so much! It pushes me to step out of my "normal" creative flow and look for something that I haven't done before....or maybe have wanted to do.
I led the group in the making of the black and white urns back in October. I wanted to create something that could be used on the urns for the fall...and again for Christmas. So I'm letting you know now that you will see these urns in a different light come December.
There was nothing difficult at all about this DIY fairy house project. It was easy....fun.....fulfilling and made me feel like a kid!
I wish I had captured on video my 4 yr old grand-daughter Harlow's reaction when she saw the first fairy house that I completed. She just froze and her eyes got so big and her mouth fell open. She asked if she could touch all the little things.
She knocked on the door y'all!!! She looked in the window and asked if the fairy was inside!!
And then she asked "Is this for me Gigi? Is it for me?"
It is my hope that you will be inspired to create something that brings both YOU and others happiness!
I used all Dixie Belle Paint products to paint the foam pumpkins.
I created the weathered look using the Dixie Belle Patina line....which is like a science experiment....and makes me crazy excited every time I create with it!
I purchased all the little miniature items from Hobby Lobby from both the fairy section and the dollhouse section of the store.
And that fairy door!!! That fairy door is by WoodUBend and I have apparently become quite infatuated with them....and so have you! They cannot keep them in stock! You will see many more of these on my future creations.
I created the TWIN pumpkin towers (topiaries)....making each set unique.
One tower is clean and tidy with its cute little welcome mat and love letters in the mailbox. The fairy is clearly an artist and prefers to create on top of her tower with the light of the stars!
The other fairy tower looks a bit rusty and worn. This fairy seems to enjoy nature with her garden hose....bicycle and kitty cat to welcome you at the door.
I have no doubt they are friends and enjoy each other's company! Who knows...maybe I'll make more next year and end up with an entire fairy village!
