Well hello there my little angel!
Meet Harlow Jean Underwood. This little beauty joined our family on September 21, 2016.
Her parents, Hailey (my daughter) and Trevor Underwood waited several YEARS for her arrival. It was an emotional journey to say the least. But this little bundle was well worth the wait!
Hours and days and weeks were spent preparing this pink and gold baby nursery for her. It was a family affair and I was lucky enough to be consulted! We made many memories designing, drawing, shopping, scraping, painting, measuring, nailing, hanging, and losing our fingertips with a hot glue gun. And I would do it again in a heartbeat! We've even got a baby keepsake box in there which makes it even more special putting in memories for her to look at when she gets older.
So join me on this tour of Harlow Jean's sanctuary!
If you see decor or paint options that you know you can't live without, you can shop this Pink & Gold Nursery below!
A very subtle pink called Patient White by Sherwin Williams covers the walls with a high gloss pure white lathered on the newly added crown molding and trim throughout the room.
The gorgeous custom-made drapery is made with Silk Dupioni Dusty Pink Fabric in a soft dusty rose and ivory. The weight of the silk is perfect for dramatic draping...while the sheen in the fabric adds a richness. I added Dusty Rose Tassels to the tiebacks...which enhances the texture and adds detail to the overall look.
The wall behind the crib was accented with "Delightful" by Sherwin Williams. We used a large damask wall stencil along with Modern Masters Metallic Champagne to create the elegant and shimmery damask pattern. We finished off the accent wall with trim work similar to this.
The crib, nightstands and dresser are by Bratt Decor and are of the Chelsea Collection. They are a gorgeous champagne silverfish color, which really helps to tie in the use of various metallics used in the room. Hailey did not want to commit to JUST pink and gold....she wanted shades of pink...and shades of metallics....and shades of ivory....all married together!
The crib is full of yummy goodness featuring the new Linen and Lace bedding by Caden Lane. The perfectly tied bows are a new offering from Caden Lane at Hailey's request! She is a BIG BOW kinda girl....and this was a must. The bedding itself offers the perfect shades of blush, ivory and linen....not to mention texture!
So can we talk about this mobile???? Again...Hailey had a vision...and we made it happen. It is just dripping with texture and elegance! A fabulous combination of roses and feathers and ribbons and pearls and jewels and even a crown! I am so pleased with the outcome that I have decided to add these to my shop! You can find the mobiles here. Other than baby Harlow...it is likely my favorite piece in the entire room!
The custom art work in this room really personalizes the space. It is such an easy way to add warmth and personality. The Hello Gorgeous can be purchased in my etsy shop here. Or if you'd rather learn to create your own hand-lettered art, check out my Art of Hand-Lettering course HERE.
The signs are completely customizable in color, sayings and size. They are hand painted by ME....no stencils or vinyls....and the frames are built by Mr. Fancy himself! I recently blogged about other nursery wall art ideas here.
The vintage salvaged wood name sign above the changing nook is a one of a kind! If you are in the market for a vintage or unusual piece to add architectural elements to your space I will do my best to source out just the item for you! This old 1800's bed rail from France was hand-painted, artistically distressed and embellished with gold foil paint, hand-dipped feathers, glitter, satin ribbon, roses, buttons and bows!
The Baby Girl Nursery Storage Baskets used INSIDE the changing nook are not only a charming addition but they will certainly help to keep baby things organized!
It is so important to have a super comfy chair in the nursery! Harlow is only a few weeks old right now...but her and mommy have logged MANY hours in this spot already! This glider is by Little Castle and was a gift from Trevor's parents (Lili and Randdaddy) ...and can be purchased from Nursery Couture. This silver ottoman is to die for!!! How fun is it to throw in a little of the unexpected?? A rustic cowhide with touches of metallics! And it sits so comfortably next to the "makes you wanna lay down and roll on the floor white sheepskin rug !!!! Is the white fur rug practical? Probably not! Uhhhh...hello?! This entire nursery is not PRACTICAL! Who the heck cares? It's drool worthy gorgeous.....and that is what we were after! If you are going to spend a crazy amount of sleepless nights hanging out with your newborn....you may as well LOVE the space you are in....right?!?!
Ok....the wings!!! It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that these particular wings are no longer in production. Why a company would make something so utterly fabulous and then DIS-continue them is beyond me!!! And just a teensy bit upsetting to me!!! But it is what it is! I have sought out some gold wings that are similar for you. And I am sure they will be just as gorgeous in your nursery! Just try to forget you ever saw these....that should help! LOL!
The littles in the room: (and I don't mean the "little peanut" swaddled above in the chair)
The crown light on the nightstand is from Pottery Barn.
The boppy cover is from Caden Lane and totally customizable to match bedding!
The large metal H is from Hobby Lobby and we just embellished it ourselves! Here's a few similar metal letter options: Custom Cut Decor Customized Monogram Rustic Tin Letters and Ella Elaine Oversized Metal Letter .
The "KITTY" laundry basket is from Pottery Barn (Hailey loves cats and we are all so thankful she now has a baby as we were worried she'd end up an old cat lady...she has THREE!)
The wall collage pieces were collected over time and multiple shopping trips. But I have gathered links to several similar items for you right here!
Here's a hanging Heart Mirror to get your collage collection going!
BUT.....can we focus on this dreamy keepsake box?
My beautiful mother passed away in 2008 way too soon after losing her battle to breast cancer. She absolutly adored Hailey....and how I wish she could be here today to watch Hailey as she takes on the Momma role so gracefully. Mom bought this "coming home outfit" (a tradition she started and I did with each and every child and grandchild so far) for Hailey back in 1989. I have saved it all these years..and placed it inside this gorgeous shabby chic shadow box.....and it now hangs beautifully for all to see in Harlow's room. Mementos from the past are very important in my family. My children appreciate who we are and where we came from....because I have shared with them...and surrounded them with love from the past. If you have something stored away in a drawer...something that holds memories for you...bring it out! Display it! It will warm your heart I promise!!!
And now that we are talking about mementos.....this little pair of shoes were a gift to me when Hailey was born! We displayed them next to a clock that I dismantled (destroyed) and recreated...LOL....in order to get my craft on! I filled it with an old photo of me on the day that Hailey was born....a strip of fabric from Hailey's old "lovie".....rhinestones, bows and roses....a few of Hailey's favorite things
Not a detail was missed in this room! When you approach the door to the room you will see this rustic yet glam custom made wreath that lets you know immediately whose space you are about to enter. My mom (ok...don't be confused....I'm adopted...long story...another day....so my BIOLOGICAL mom...who is now my best friend) made this wreath to hang on the door at the hospital. This seems to be all the rage right now. It was as if there was a competition for whose hospital door held the most beautiful wreath!!! Well let me tell you....we won! LOL! This wreath sets the tone for the nursery by combining raw beauty with rich elegance. If you are looking for a custom-made wreath...give me a shout...I can hook you up with a NINI original!
Before we close....I want to also share a photo with you of Harlow on her mommy and daddy's bed! Just a little tiny peanut on a great big bed!
We used the same stencil technique here on their wall with Web Gray by Sherwin Williams and Modern Masters Metallic Olympic Gold. We purchased the large "U" and wings at at local flea market show....but you can find similar ones here: White Metal Angel Wings and two metal letter options: Custom Cut Decor Customized Monogram Rustic Tin Letters and Ella Elaine Oversized Metal Letter . I repurposed the nightstands a few years ago and they are still just as beautiful today! They are painted with Dixie Belle's Burlap and Drop Cloth. The tops are stained with General Finishes Java Gel. They were an awful golden oak color before....but we loved the size and style....so a little paint and a few hours of my time and VOILA! I love the look of mirrors hanging over nightstand next to the bed ....with lighting in front of them! The mirrors were repurposed by me...of course! The gorgeous lights were purchased at Z-Gallery. I have located similar Chandelier Pendant Lights here. It just offers a romantic and cozy feel to the room! The natural linen bedding and pillow are from Pottery Barn. The adorable and NOT strategically placed YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE pillow (it really sits there all the time) is from the adorable boutique The Turquoise Door.
Baby Harlow is sleeping soundly in this handmade cradle that belonged to her daddy! It was made by Harlow's great-grandfather Pepaw...Trevor's grandpa! This cradle is adorned with a love note written on the underneath side... by her great-grandfather...professing his love to all future babies that are lucky enough to snooze and dream and gently rock here. The gorgeous cradle bedding is brand spanking new and was loving made by Mimo....Harlow's great-grandmother. She looks so beautiful here....sleeping next to the window in her parents' room. This cradle AND the bedding will be treasured for generations to come!
A great big thank you to Hailey and Trevor for allowing us a peek into their world. A house that they have worked so hard to make a HOME. And thank you Jenn Brookover Photography for capturing most of these gorgeous images!
And an even bigger thank you to God for the blessing of this little girl!
She is worn out! And fast asleep!
Hugs to you....and may you sleep like a baby tonight!
XOXO,
Tracey (aka GIGI)
