Painted overalls: learn how to paint denim

October 25, 2019 by Tracey Bellion Filed Under: DIY Projects, Home & Lifestyle 5 Comments

It’s no secret that I am not a #fancy girl – which is ironic that I have #fancy in my business name…..and a reputation for “painting” #fancy!  But when it comes to ME….and my STYLE……I am a comfort creature through and through!  And what is more comfortable than a pair of overalls???  How about a pair of painted overalls.

I’ve worn overalls as far back as I can remember!  I even found this photo from 22 years ago…..yep…..in overalls!

I wear them to family reunions.

At the farm (ok….not my farm…but A FARM….because when is there a better time)

As a bathing suit cover-up.

When holding grandbabies

And at home when receiving my Stitch Fix…with much #fancier clothes inside the box.

Anyway….point made right?

So there is a new (really it’s not new….I used to paint denim ALOT back in the day) trend…..painting denim!

Denim overalls, denim jackets, and basic jeans!

So when a paint trend hits…I’m all over it!

Have you tried it???

Let’s see if I can inspire you with these that I’ve painted for clients recently???

Mermaid Overalls

I used the following products for my mermaid overalls: Plum Crazy, The Gulf, Mermaid Tail, Gold Digger

Sunflower Overalls

I used the following products for my sunflower overalls: golden years, daisy, limeade, evergreen, palmetto, plum crazy, the gulf, chocolate, terracotta

And I have so many more orders to complete.

I’ve received orders for everything from tennis ball overalls to flying pig overalls!!  LOL!

I even have a client mailing me her old denim jacket to paint with my harlequin pattern!

I encourage you to try this yourself….using Dixie Belle Paint!!!

Trust me when I tell you it does NOT wash out!  I’ve got loads and loads of work clothes covered in paint to prove my point!  But really….it cures fully in 30 days.  You do not need to seal it. If you really feel you must….you can use the Dixie Belle Clear Spray Wax and just brush it into your design.    I suggest not washing until 30 days….and then wash in cool water and hang dry just to preserve the art!

I do take custom orders for these – email me at info@traceysfancy.com! Or try it yourself….I have a class dedicated to painting denim!

Be sure to follow my IG and FB for future completed painted overall designs!

Tracey – Hi! I miss talking to you my friend. It seems all is good with you. I’m so happy for you and your family.
I am very interested in a pair of jeans or overalls with the mermaid. Dorian has become a professional mermaid in Key West. I thought this would be a great gift for her for Christmas. Can you contact me please? My phone number is still 301 641-0313. Mary G-Briggs
