What does your front door say about you? Your door sets the tone for the vibe of your entire home! I'm here to tell you how to paint a front door in just ONE hour! Before you are ready to paint it, check the door over fully to make sure it's in good condition! You don't want to waste all that paint on a door that is in ruins. If it is, put the paint pot down and check out https://www.plastproinc.com/products/fiberglass-doors for a new door. Alternatively, if it is looking and working fine, then check out how I did the paint job below.
I just did it and I'm here to tell you how you can too!
With the right preparation and the right products.....it is such a fast and easy project!
First.....I want to advise you on how to choose your color.
Take into consideration the color of your home.....the brick, the roof, the surrounding paint, and trim work.
Once you have chosen a few colors.....paint a swatch of each on your door and study it over a 24 hours period. Pay special attention to it in the morning, afternoon, and evening light. As the daylight changes...so will the color.
Once you've decided on the color.....give your door a really good cleaning with White Lightning. Use a Scotch Brite pad or steel wool....or even an old toothbrush to really remove all the dirt and grime. Then rinse well with water.
If you are using a really light color such as white or off-white you will want to prime with BOSS in white first.
I did not prime....and moved directly to the paint with two coats of Vintage Duck Egg Blue by Dixie Belle.
For the minimal brush strokes, I used my favorite brush... DB Mini Flat Medium brush.
I also used a small artist brush for the details work and to paint around the hardware that I DID NOT remove!!!
Yes...I am that girl....and it is ok....because my door looks amazing!!
Once dry.....I coated with two coats of DB Top Coat in Satin using my applicator pad which is a life-changing tool in my top coating world!!!
I highly recommend you try one YESTERDAY.....they remove every ounce of possible frustration with streaky topcoats (which 99.5% of the time is actually user-error)!!!
And that is it! One (hour) and done!!! Watch and see how I did it....
