You get one chance to make a good and lasting impression on people so this introduction HAS to be…well…Fabulous, Fantastic, even Monumental!
This is actually one of the easier tasks since I get to be the one to introduce everyone to….drum roll….
my friend…the real “Tracey” of Traceys Fancy!
She’s the one behind the “fabulous, fancied-up, and funky-fied furniture!” I’m Julie, her business partner and the “behind the scene gal.” But enough of ME…lets get to the main course…Tracey!
Here’s the basics…Tracey has a wonderful husband Matt, and four very thoughtful, brilliant kids ranging in ages of 8-32! She’s even a grandma of two precious kiddos! Her fifth baby…well lets just say…has evolved from painting her own furniture to save money when she had the urge to redecorate her home; painting pieces for family and friends, to a full fledged furniture painting business. She first opened her Etsy business 6 years ago. I joined her a little over a year ago.
Its really quite fun to watch Tracey’s idea process. It almost always involves MOVING heavy furniture in “just the right place” so she can get her vision! Thats another blog post!
Tracey’s personality is painted all over every piece that leaves our studio! (Garage)! As an artist she brings each piece to life; a little bit of Tracey leaves with every piece. Even the less ornate, more subdued work…somewhere she puts her “fancy” on it! That is, after all, what attracts people to her furniture. All the bright and vibrant colors, the interesting ways she places designs, layers of texture, and adds the unexpected. Well that encompasses Tracey and what she’s all about! We have so much fun together. Her whimsy attitude, her positive outlook on EVERYTHING…she’s the “real deal!” Tracey wouldn’t know how to be any other way. And besides…there’s plenty of family and friends that “help” keep her grounded.(if ya know what I mean)lol.
As far as me? I’m Julie.
I’m married to a wonderful man, Drew, and have two beautifully talented kids and a brand new son-in-law! Yeah! Actually, my background isn’t much different. I’ve been a successful hair designer and business owner for 22 plus years so there’s that creative side as well. Tracey and I became friends through our girls. We always seemed to talk about her painting business and how she wanted to grow Traceys Fancy into something bigger. I was thinking of doing something new, something less demanding on my body; you know, my feet, my hands, my back…and so…bending, lifting, twisting…Here I am!!! Honestly, its a match made in heaven. I joined to help us move into the social media arena. Remember, we’re 50 plus years old’s so social media is…well…intimidating to say the least. We weren’t quite sure how we were going to make that leap but then fate took over.
We received an e-mail from Paula Blankenship! The owner and Creative Director of Heirloom Traditions Paint Company. She had been following Traceys Fancy for a while and loved what Tracey had done with furniture. She now wanted to offer advice, leadership; be our mentor! I can’t even write in words our excitement! We are definitely being watched over by a Higher Power. Timing couldn’t have been any better. We didn’t have a clue where to start and Paula was just that person! Thank You! Thank You Paula!
Paula wasted no time in telling us what we needed to do. “Blog.” she said. We knew social media would help us get Traceys Fancy out there but after she explained just how it could impact our business…lets just say, “We’re taking the Plunge!”
We decided our first blog, our introduction to “social media” would be an intro of all intro’s!
Tracey loves using all the different paints along with various techniques.
Heirloom Paints, are by far superior to all the others that she has used.
We used to “mix” our own chalk paint. BTW…Have you ever seen paint peel off in one solid sheet? The length of a dresser? OMG! That would be ME! Never a worry with HTP. Heirloom Paint makes painting effortless. It glides wherever you direct your brush. From the first brushstroke it goes on like velvet. It truly IS pure and silky smooth. So, when Tracey decided Heirloom Traditions Paints…My reaction? “HALLELUYAH,” no more mixing to create the right consistency of a chalk paint. The variety of colors to choose from is just “insane!” Between the variety of HTP and Debi’s DIY paints, we save tons of time searching!
To have Paula Blankenship contact us?!? To be willing to share her knowledge and give guidance and support; that’s really all we could ever ask.
Tracey and I, along with our company, Traceys Fancy, are on this journey and I hope y’all will go along for the ride with us!
