Painting glass items is something I do quite often but it's usually wine or liquor bottles!
It never occurred to me to hand paint this black and white striped decanter set.
I was especially drawn to the round stoppers on decanter bottle!

I love when someone send me pictures of items that they feel sure will inspire me!
I recently received this photo...a decanter by a well known and very talented designer with an eye for home decor that speaks to my soul.
I am instantly drawn to whimsical home decor and this specific decanter really got my gears turning!
The Hunt was ON!
I began looking for smooth glass decanters that had round stoppers.
The decanters that I found in the thrift stores were mostly cut glass and cut crystal.
After an extensive Google search, I was able to find multiple shapes of smooth glass decanters with round ball tops within just a few hours.
They were very affordable with most being around $10 with the exception of the black one which I splurged at $20.
Still.....these are WAY less pricey than the high end designer bottle!
And lets be honest, I don't really plan to "use" my decanters very often. I really just want to enjoy a whimsical set up in my bar area and at my next party!
Not to mention....how cute would one of these be for hostess gifts/wedding gifts/birthday gifts etc?!?!

Posca Paint Markers - for the labels
Erasable Pencil
Sharpie Marker
Fixatif Spray - for setting Posca paint makers

Whimsical Hand Painted Decanter Set in 8 Simple Steps
It really was quite simple.....considering how amazing this set of black and white striped decanters look together!
Easy Step-by-Step Instructions
Apply Slick Stick per the instructions**
Base coat in Fluff (2 coats)
Draw your stripes
Paint your stripes in Caviar (2 coats)
Paint your ball stoppers in Caviar (2 coats)
Draw your labels using Posca markers...to say whatever you want!
Spray Fixatif to set your Posca marked labels
Top coat in Gloss Clear Coat of choice (2 coats)

And that is it!!!
Remember, you can do these in any color you'd like! Even a mix of colors....one pink, one lavender, one mint greet etc! Or how about a set in gray and white stripe for you neutral lovers!
