Welllll.......Mr. Fancy seems to be the "maker of all things BOX"! LOL!
Did you see the Barbie Box? It has received SO much attention on FB and is every little girl's dream!
But this BIG GIRL (that would be ME) had another "dream"... a life-size coffin "box" prop for Halloween!
Once again.....Mr. Fancy gets busy.....

I assisted when he let me.....which wasn't much....just painting the inside of the box in this gorgeous Amethyst purple by Dixie Belle.....before he closed it up!
And here you go!
One life-sized coffin ready for me to "fancy-up"!
I covered the entire box in Fluff from Dixie Belle Paint. I didn't intend on the box being white.....but planned on stripes and harlequin....so it's always necessary to start with white....and add black on top of that.
I chose 10-inch horizontal stripes for the sides of the box.....taped off accordingly....burnished my tape....and painted my stripes in Caviar (not shown here).
I then measured and taped off my harlequin pattern in the front decorative inset of the box.....burnished my tape....and painted my diamonds in black.
Take a look at the demonstration of this in a live video that I did on FB....
I wanted to add details to this coffin box beyond painted patterns......so I chose to add FAUX decorative hardware.....by using my Redesign Prima molds made from hot glue!!!
This is the biggest knock off way to make molds that I've ever tried ... and it rocks!!!
It's easy to do.....they dry rapidly....and are ready to glue onto your piece! See my short DIY thot glue furniture mold tutorial HERE...
They pop right out of the mold without sticking.....as you can see in the photo below....
This hot glue version of a mold painted very easily. Once in place....you can accent it with other paints....metallic waxes....paint washes....rust or patina treatments....whatever you can think up!
I love the way they look here....and can't believe it was really that easy!!! I lightly rubbed Warm Gold Gilding Wax by Dixie Belle right onto the surface for a gorgeous accent!
You could add these to any furniture piece, picture frame, fancy boxes, flower pots.....sooooo many options!
You can purchase these molds from my Amazon shop right here.
The stripes and harlequin pattern were just too crisp for me....and I felt like they needed a little grunge action.....
So I got busy with my Best Dang Wax in Black for age.....
And then I went a little nuts with the Metallic Patina Paint by Dixie Belle! All that gorgeous layered turquoise that you see....started out as a brushed on bronze!!! I then sprayed it with BOTH the Patina Spray in blue and green.....waited bout an hour....and it slowly turns into this gorgeous aged metal look!!! It's like magic and I want to use it on everything now! You can find these products in the shop section below!!
I then highlighted corners and insets with Artisan Powders call Memory Hardware! Have you tried them?
They are super fine powders that are intensely rich in color....and stick to all surfaces for a really pop of color! I chose Mesdames Merlot and Trianon Patina for their jewel tones....that went really well with the purple inside of the box. You can also find these in my Amazon shop.
And lastly.....I added the Warm Gold Gilding Wax to the surface of the rope trim that surrounds the harlequin.
I am so pleased with the way this turned out! It was VERY budget friendly.....and easy on time too!
