Festive Fancy DIY Angel Ornament

December 8, 2018 by Tracey Bellion Filed Under: DIY Projects, Tips & Tricks, Uncategorized Leave a Comment

TAKE NOTE my fancies……this blog post contains not ONE word regarding PAINT!

What????  LOL!  I know!  You are still in the right place I promise!

Let’s talk Christmas…. and the sweetest little craft angel/ornament ever!!!!

Isn’t she precious???  This was my first go-round with this little darling and I’ve since made several!

She’s easy and inexpensive, which is speaking my language!

I’m not going to give you the play by play of how I put her together…because I did an hour-long video of the entire process that you can watch right here on my You Tube channel!  When you go check it out, please follow me!!  I am SOOOO close to getting 1,000 subscribers…help me out!!

But if you are like me….you may just need a good look at the supplies and you can just wing it!  (lol…see what I did there?)

Her wings are two petals from a jumbo size poinsettia from Hobby Lobby!

I used two different colored embroidery threads for her body and her hair.

For this particular angel I purchased feathers already sewn onto a ribbon.  My future angel skirts were made with individual feathers, ribbon and glue…as seen on the video.

I picked up the little dowel, wooden ball and wooden beads at Hobby Lobby as well…and secured them together with hot glue.

Here you can see how great the embroidery thread wraps and covers the beads, which serve as her torso!

Just a few short steps later…..this little darling is done!!!

I couldn’t love her more!!!

She ended up being quite large with a wing span of about 10 inches and she is about 12 inches tall!

I like my ornaments on the JUMBO size so that was fine with me!  I just glued a little loop to the back of her head and she will forever hang on my Christmas tree!

And for those of you that like things just a little more on the rustic side…..I also painted two ornaments with Dixie Belle’s patina collection.  What started out as a boring and dull wood ornament now looks like aged bronze with red glitter enhancements!  I share those briefly in the angel ornament video as well…however the actual patina process (if you are interested in patina, which is pretty cool) is shared during a video that you can see here.

And remember…for the Full Angel Ornament Tutorial, check out my video on YouTube!
